The Summer Work and Travel program is designed for foreign students who wish to travel to the United States during their summer break from college or university. It provides an opportunity for cultural exchange, work experience, and exposure to the American way of life. Here are the general eligibility criteria for the Summer Work and Travel program:
Age: Participants must be between 18 and 30 years old.
Student Status: Participants must be currently enrolled and actively pursuing a degree or certificate at a college, university, or other accredited educational institution outside of the United States. They should have completed at least one semester or equivalent of post-secondary academic study.
English Proficiency: Participants must have sufficient proficiency in the English language to successfully interact in an English-speaking environment. This is necessary to communicate effectively with employers and colleagues during their work experience.
Intent to Return: Participants must have a genuine intention to return to their home country upon completion of the program. The program is not intended for individuals seeking to immigrate or stay permanently in the United States.
Program Duration: The program is typically limited to a maximum duration of four months, which coincides with the participant's summer break.
Sponsorship: Participants must be sponsored by a designated sponsor organization approved by the U.S. Department of State. The sponsor organization will facilitate the application process, provide support during the program, and ensure compliance with program regulations.
